It is shaping up to be an action-packed World Conservation Congress for CEESP. If you are planning to attend the IUCn Congress, please contact us at ceesp@iucn.org so we can involve you and keep you informed about CEESP related events during the Congress. Here are some of the events already planned:

As Commission members, you are all cordially invited to attend the CEESP general meeting on 6 September to be held at the International Convention Centre Jeju from 8:30-3pm. If you haven’t already registered for the Congress, remember that as a Commission member you are entitled to a discounted registration rate.

CEESP has four ‘official’ Commission workshops during the Forum, is a partner to numerous other events and many CEESP members are also holding events. The four official CEESP Forum workshops are: (1) Whakatane Assessments: a multi‐stakeholder approach to solving human rights issues in protected areas?; (2) Economic Policies and Sustainability at a Time of Crisis; (3) Promoting a New Conservation Ethic Based on Respect for Indigenous Peoples; and (4) Wiser discussion about ethical and responsible engagement with the private sector to promote change.

CEESP will also be holding events in the five WCC Pavilions: (1) the Blue Planet, (2) Species, (3) A Just World, (4) Business & Biodiversity and (5) A Protected Planet, and will also have a permanent booth in the Commissions tent that will be used for small informal discussion groups and meetings. As well, CEESP will have a permanent Commission booth in the Commissions tent and that space will be made available for small informal meetings and discussions.

A list of all CEESP events taking place during the IUCN World Conservation Congress that we are aware of is listed in excel format to the right of this article. Please let us know of any other events CEESP members are involved in so we can ensure they are included in the list. Eventually the finalised list will be made available for all CEESP attendees.
