Ecosystem Management Tools

What are Ecosystem Management Tools ?

Many field-tested tools and approaches are available to manage ecosystems in a way that balances human livelihoods and biodiversity conservation objectives. The application of this technology can help address some of the challenges of managing ecosystems, such as research, data management and analysis, planning for natural resources, and development of an integrated assessment of ecosystems with appropriate weights given to decisions affecting stakeholders interests.

Tools such as animations of remote sensed images help to illustrate ecosystem issues at varying landscape scales. It can also be used to enhance communication among the stakeholders.

CEM is studying the possibilities to manage knowledge on Ecosystem Management in a way that it is accessible and can be used in a decision making process.
