Ainun Nishat

Ainun Nishat, PhD, Country Representative, nishat@iucnbd.org

 

Dr. Ainun Nishat, has been working as a catalyst, advocate, educator and facilitator, championing the wise use of natural resources and sustainable development in Bangladesh for decades, while his arena of work and interests include water resource development and management, environment management, biodiversity conservation, coastal zone and wetland conservation and management, disaster management, adaptation to climate change and climate variability and related policy advocacy.

Before joining IUCN, Dr. Nishat was a Professor of Water Resources Engineering of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He has been a member of the Bangladesh National Water Council, Indo-Bangladesh Joint River Commission, Bangladesh National Agricultural Commission and the National Council on Science and Technology. Dr. Nishat had played an important role in the Ganges Water Treaty negotiations, water sector policy formulation, agriculture sector policy revision and strategy formulation.

Raquibul Amin

Raquibul Amin, Programme Coordinator raquib@iucnbd.org

Mr. Amin completed M. Sc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, UK in 2002. At present, he is responsible for overall growth of IUCN’s program profile and supports the Country Representative in planning and designing IUCN’s strategic direction in Bangladesh. Raquib’s other passions are nature-tourism and photography.

Zahid

Md. Zahid Hossain, Manager Finance, zahid@iucnbd.org

Joined in IUCN B in September 2005. Masters in Commerce, Chartered Accountants (Intermediate), Professional Tax Lawyer, Membership - Dhaka Taxes Bar Association, Bangladesh,8 years professional experience in the field of Finance and Accounts with International/Multinational Organisations. At present he is responsible for administration of Finance,Administration and HR Units of IUCN B. Previous Employment - Manager, Treasury of Aventis Limited (Multiational Pharmaceuticals Company)

Haseeb

Haseeb Md. Irfanullah, PhD, Senior Programme Officer, haseeb@iucnbd.org

 Dr Haseeb, a Botanist by training, did his PhD at the University of Liverpool (UK) on aquatic ecology. He is currently working under the NCSA project of IUCN Bangladesh. Dr. Haseeb is also the Head-in-charge of Species Conservation & Protected Areas Unit of IUCN Bangladesh. His fields of interest comprise natural resource management, aquatic ecology, education and taxonomy.

Mahbubur Rahman Masum

Mahbubur Rahman Masum, Communications Officer, masum@iucnbd.org

Completed his business administration degree from the University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka and attended two semesters at the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada as a visiting student. He is a public relations professional with exposure to cross-cultural communications and experience across agency, corporate, government and international organisations.
