HKKH Partnership Project

Himalaya Mountains

Initiated in 2006, the HKKH Regional Partnership Project is supported by the Italian Cooperation (MAE-DGCS) and is focused on improving planning and management of ecosystems in the Hindu Kush-Karakoram-Himalaya region.

The project aims at building institutional capacity for planning and management at the local, national and regional levels, focusing on poverty reduction and on biodiversity conservation in the Hindu Kush - Karakorum - Himalaya region. The activities are initially focused in three national parks: Sagarmatha National Park in Nepal, Central Karakoram National Park in Pakistan and Qomolangma Nature Preserve in Tibet Autonomous Region of PR China.

The Partnership brings together IUCN, the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Committee for High Altitude Scientific and Technological Research (Ev-K²-CNR) and Cooperazione e Sviluppo/Cooperation and Development (CESVI), as well as the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
