NIKHAT SATTAR

Country Group Head-2 Nepal and Pakistan

Ms. Nikhat Sattar is Head, Country Group 2 (Nepal and Pakistan) with responsibility to develop IUCN programme in Bhutan and Afghanistan. Ms. Sattar provides overall management to IUCN's interactions with members, governments, NGOs, donors and other development agencies in the Group. Previously, she has held several other key positions in both IUCN Asia and in Pakistan. As Head, Regional Emerging Programmes, she made significant contributions towards enhancing IUCN's vision and mission in Asia.

NARAYAN BELBASE

Country Representative a.i

Mr. Narayan Belbase has been appointed as the Acting Country Representative of IUCN Nepal effective 2 February 2008. He has joined IUCN Nepal from May 2005. A Master's in Environmental Law from the University of Sydney and Master's in Comparative Law from the Delhi University, Mr. Belbase is entrusted with the responsibility of developing, implementing and monitoring IUCN Nepal's programmes and projects related to environmental governance, justice and equity.

Besides acting as the focal point for the governance and equity issues, Mr. Belbase also contributes notably in areas of environmental law and policy, environmental security and justice and environmental mainstreaming to ongoing and planned projects of IUCN Nepal.

Prior to joining IUCN Nepal, Mr. Belbase has worked in UNDP Nepal as Assistant Resident Representative, and Ford Foundation, New Delhi, supporting environmental justice and equity related issues in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
