Four years after the deadly Indian Ocean tsunami devastated the Asian coast, the need to restore, protect and invest in coastal ecosytems is clear. The difficult task to bring together different agencies, sectors and countries who are addressing today's challenges related to climate change and overpopulation, is now the responsibility of the unique multi-partner initiative called Mangroves for the Future (MFF) and led by IUCN and UNDP.
Coordinated by IUCN's Asian Resional Office, based in Bangkok, Thailand, the MFF initiative works closely with local communities to build awareness and capacity for improved food and livelihood security, disaster preparedness, and climate change adaptation.
