Climate change awareness-raising events

•  Late September in Can Tho for a training programme
•  Late October in Hanoi for a climate change and development conference

Objective: To familiarize policy makers in Viet Nam with the challenge of climate change and its potential impact on the nation, as well as to begin discussing adaptation and coping strategies.

The East Asia Business Forum on Environment and Sustainable Development

•  8 – 9 October in Hanoi

Objective: To educate members of Viet Nam’s business community about environmentally friendly actions already taken by some companies and about the private sector’s role in sustainable development.

Oil spill geographic response planning workshop

•  13 – 17 October in Quang Ninh

Objective: To allow key stakeholders to identify local resources at risk, priorities for protection and response strategies in the case of an ocean oil or chemical spill.

Roundtable meeting on timber and wood markets

•   14 – 15 October in Ho Chi Minh City

Objective: To convene members of the private sector in a discussion of changing international markets for timber and wood products, and how Viet Nam’s forest industry can respond in a sustainable way.
