National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department
Mission:
As the State member of IUCN, the Royal Forest Department is directly responsible for all matters relating to IUCN membership such as applications, fees, participation in WCPA meetings, dissemination of information to magazines and to IUCN, and coordinating with other organizations concerning projects. Within the Department, various organizations deal with different aspects of conservation and resource management, such as the office of the National Environment Board, the Royal Irrigation Department and the Department of Lands. The Wildlife Conservation Division of the Royal Forest Department works for nature conservation and is responsible for the establishment, administration and management of wildlife sanctuaries, non-hunting areas, wildlife population, wildlife habitat, research and supporting general conservation activities, public relations and extension services and wildlife propagation programmes.
