Stronger working together in North Africa

06 October 2011 | News story

More can be achieved to preserve nature in North Africa by working together, that's one of the messages coming out loud and clear from IUCN's North Africa Members Forum in Rabat, Morocco .

National authorities should be ready to work together across the region. But they should also be ready to see what the situation is out there on the ground. Working with local communities in their own countries they can find out how to improve people's livelihoods while also preserving nature.

Maher Mahjoub is IUCN's programme officer for the North Africa region, he thinks North Africa has something to tell the world.
