The Ecosystems, livelihoods, resilience and adaptation component of the programme aims to integrate conservation instruments, such as protected areas, into regional planning and management frameworks. It will promote the use of an ecosystems approach to build resilience and support adaptation to ecological and economic changes affecting livelihoods, including climate change.
The main objectives are to:
- Develop and promote policies and practical instruments of integrated management.
- Build regional capacity to meet critical development and resource management challenges.
- Strengthen the use of ecosystem services to meet the challenges of natural disasters, economic changes and climate change.
