Odeh Al Jayyousi
Regional Director
Dr Odeh Al-Jayyousi was a university professor in water resources and environment and dean of scientific research at the Applied Science University in Jordan. He has a diverse professional experience in water policy, planning and management : City of Chicago - Department of Planning, University of Illinois - Center of Urban Economic Development, Sigma - Consulting Engineers. He designed, conducted and facilitated training workshops and focus groups. He worked as a consultant with EU, ESCWA, WB and GTZ. He was nominated and selected for the Next Generation of Water Leadership Program (Stockholm,1999). He participated in the formulation of the World Water Vision 21st and the formulation of the Strategy of Biodiversity and Water in Jordan. He published over 30 articles in international journals.

Peter Laban
REWARD Programme Coordinator
With 33 years experience in sustainable land use and eco-systems, Mr. Peter Laban has gained expertise in different work fields, from soil surveys, forest and natural resource inventories to the development and policy implementation of sustainable agriculture, watershed management, and community forestry. As a specialist he was deployed worldwide mainly in Africa, Asia and now the Middle East, where he has been working since 1996. Before joining the IUCN WAME team, he worked at CARE International, where he was Regional Coordinator of EMPOWERS, a participatory stakeholder-led water planning and management programme in the Middle East. Peter provided numerous consultancies in institutional change and development processes (CEOSS in Egypt; PASP/after-project design in Guinea Bissau; Coordinator of DGIS thematic evaluations of 8 resources management projects). He holds two Master of Science Degrees, one with specialization in tropical forestry and soil science and one with specialization in economics for agricultural development, both from the Agricultural University Wageningen.

Fadi Shraideh
Deputy Coordinator, REWARD Programme
Mr. Fadi Shraideh, has joined IUCN in July 2007. He is a development worker with extensive experience as a manager and hands-on practitioner of development operations. He has worked mainly with NGOs, where he has spent the last seven years working for International organizations interacting with the local communities. This work has included the development and subsequent management of Long Range Strategic Plans, proposal development for a wide range of donor organizations. Fadi has also worked on agriculture progress and natural resources, rights based programming, gender programming and small scale credit scheme. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Yarmouk University in Jordan.

Fidaa Haddad
Field Coordinator, REWARD Programme
Mrs. Fidaa Haddad has extensive experiences as a development worker in the field of water management and gained a strong practical knowledge in development operations. Since 2002, Fida has worked at Care International in Jordan, interacting with the civil society sector. Her work included the development and the management of long range strategic plans through facilitation, coordination and communication. Her expertise spreads over a number of sectors including agriculture and natural resources, small scale credit schemes; civil rights programs and gender training. Fidaa holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the Jordan University for Science and Technology.

Khaldoun Al Omari
Protected Areas Programme Officer
Coordinating and conducting research in protected areas ever since his B.Sc. degree in Applied Biology from the Jordan University of Science and Technology in Jordan, Khaldoun Al Omari brings a lot of experience in the management of protected areas with him. Before joining the IUCN team, he used to work for the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature, where he supervised the site ecologists and the Head Quarter research team to ensure the ecological sustainable management of the protected areas. Previously, Khaldoun was the team leader of the Bird Research at the Royal Society for Conservation of Nature (RSCN). He specialized in bird advance research and holds a license in bird ringing on both national and international levels. He worked as a natural bird sound recordist, and raptor conservation biologist. Sharing his expertise on bird migration and biodiversity, he also conducted several training workshops.

Mohamed Eltayeb
Marine Programme Officer
Dr Mohamed Eltayeb joined the IUCN WAME team in order to build up a new thematic programme on Marine Environment in Jeddah, Saudi-Arabia. Since May 2006, Mohamed has been the former Head of the Coastal Development and Management Department and assistance professor at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries in the Red Sea University, Port Sudan. After completing his studies of Biological Oceanography at the Red Sea University and Geography of Third World Development at the University of London, Mohamed continued his university career as a lecturer and scientist at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries of the Red Sea University, Port Sudan, where he specialized in conducting research considering the development of Coral Reefs. Further, he contributed to several assessments for environmental impacts of man-made interventions through newly created buildings, ports or industries at the shore. He holds a Ph.D in Zoology from the University of Khartoum - Sudan.

Rania Faouri
Communications Officer
Rania Faouri is the Communications Officer in IUCN West Asia/ Middle East Regional Office. She has joined IUCN in February 2006 as a Communications Assistant for the Regional Water Programme. She is responsible for writing webstories, press releases and e-newsletters, organizing events, producing publications and communication material for the WAME Regional Office. Before joining IUCN, she has worked in the Airline Industry as PR Officer in Royal Jordanian Airlines and then as Training Specialist in the Arab Air Carriers Organization – Regional Training Center. She has a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication specialized in Radio and TV.

Luma Al Kurdi
Finance & Administration Assistant
Luma Al Kurdi has joined IUCN WAME in March 2006 as a Finance & Administration Assistant. She holds a B.As in Management Information Systems from the University of Petra in Jordan. While she was completing this course, she shaped her leadership and teamwork skills as a director of the women's' gym "Shape up" in Amman, Jordan. Before joining IUCN Luma has been working as Finance Officer for the Iraq Delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Amman. She was responsible for managing the funds and financial assets of the delegation and compiled financial reports for the federation and the donors. As Finance and Administration Assistant, she is in charge of maintaining appropriate financial and managerial control for the office as well as sustaining an healthy economic environment among purveyors and the office.

Ola Mallah
Membership Assistant
Ola Mallah has joined IUCN WAME in 2004 along with the launching of the regional office, as a Secretary and Administration Assistant. She has been promoted in 2007 to be the IUCN Membership Focal Point and Administrative Assistant. She is responsible for the administration of members, the membership applications and the admission process. Ola organizes Regional and National Membership Committees such as workshops, congresses or regionla forums. She fosters linkages between members and IUCN regional office. She has a wide experience through different positions held in Jordan: as a manager of Al Hadi Decorations in Amman or as a graphic designer in the Jordan Modern International Trade & Investment Company in Amman among others. She holds a Travel & Tourism Diploma from the Arab College in Jordan.

Haifaa Abdulhalim
Protected Areas Programme Assistant
Haifaa Abdulhalim is responsible of research, proposal writing for further activities and fundraising for planned actions. Additionally, she organizes conferences and workshops within her thematic topics. After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Heritage resources & Museums management from the Queen Rania Institute of Heritage and Tourism in the Hashemite University in Jordan, she continued her university career as a research assistant at this establishment. She was also responsible for the organization of workshops and conferences. Haifaa has worked for the Jordan Environment Society as a volunteer and for the Society for Sustainable Development as project coordinator.
