IPBES side events during the CBD COP 11

A number of side events on IPBES were held during the 11th meeting of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 11).

 These included:

• On 9 October 2012: "IPBES Capacity Building Initiatives and Networks – How Could They Also Support Implementation of the Convention nn Biological Diversity?" presented by Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management in Cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme – World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC);


• On 10 October 2012: "Indigenous and Local Knowledge in Global Environmental Assessments" presnted by UNESCO and the SBD Secretariat;


• On 11 October 2012: "IPBES: From Establishment to Operationalization" presented by UNEP, UNESCO, FAO, UNDP, and the German Government. This event provided an update on the intersessional work in preparation for the first IPBES Plenary meeting (IPBES-1) to be held from 21 to 26 January 2013 in Bonn, Germany;
