The Carpathians: A natural bridge between Western and Eastern Europe
The Carpathians form a natural bridge between Western and Eastern Europe, allowing for species migration and genetic exchange. They contain some of the least disturbed ecosystems such as the largest European natural beech forest complex as well as vast tracks of mountain primeval forests. Reflections from the Business and Economy Pavilion
The Forum is a public gathering hosted by the world’s conservation community and offers a unique platform for debates, workshops, dialogues, roundtable discussions, training courses, music and exhibition.
An important feature of the Forum was the presence of the Pavilions. The Pavilions were open networking and presentation spaces focused on introducing innovative partnerships that will drive conservation globally in the coming few years. This year, one of the Pavilions was fully dedicated to “Business and the Economy” and it was jointly managed by IUCN Business and Biodiversity programme and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

Turning the Big Plan into Big Action
Talks to evaluate progress in halting the loss of nature will take place 8-19 October in Hyderabad, India at the 11th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP11). Governments meeting in Hyderabad will discuss progress towards the implementation of decisions taken at the Nagoya Biodiversity Summit in 2010, including the 2020 Aichi Targets to save and restore nature.
