Lead

Our vision

Solutions to the global challenges we face don't come about by chance. They happen when individuals at all levels and from every sector take leadership roles. Robert Davis, Founder of IBLF, 2007

Leadership within the sustainability community implies being able to work powerfully and creatively with a diversity of voices, expectations and goals, and identify shared pathways for action. Being able to use processes and tools that lift collective ideas and energies, and to help direct them towards meaningful change is a feature of facilitative leadership.

With facilitative leadership, individuals at all levels of the organization, are able to create environments around them where different perspectives can be shared, where generative conversations produce intelligent and innovative results, and where parties to the process are committed to ensuring that the outcomes are embedded within the systems that produced them.

The Learning and Leadership Team works with this notion of leadership by both building the capacities of individuals within our organization to adopt facilitative leader behaviour, and to demonstrate this kind of leadership in the facilitation work we do with teams and partners.
