The team

The Science and Knowledge Management team facilitates and catalyses integration of science into IUCN’s programme and promotes enhanced knowledge management to support better conservation practice.

Working with IUCN’s Members, Commissions, Secretariat and partners around the world, we strive to ensure the best possible scientific basis for IUCN policy and action.

We work from Gland, Switzerland but are pleased to hear from you wherever you are based!

Cecilia Nizzola-Tabja

CEC Membership Liaison Officer

Cecilia is a multi-lingual and multi-cultural relationship manager who caringly oversees the CEC network of over 800 communication and learning practitioners around the world. Strategically matching network members with opportunities and IUCN expertise, Cecilia’s remarkable logistical and organizational skills have played a key role in some of CEC’s most important events for over 15 years.

Rod Abson

Knowledge Management Officer and CEC Focal Point

Rod Abson has over 8 years experience working on diverse environmental issues including preventing illegal trade in wildlife across south-east Asia, developing fauna sensitive road design, community education and engagement projects. He most recently was responsible for developing a new global environmental education programme and information management systems with the world secretariat of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in Geneva, Switzerland.

Rod holds a Masters in Environmental Management, Bachelor of Arts (Nature Tourism) and Postgraduate Certificate in Development Management. Rod has been involved with IUCN since 2008 as a member of the Commission on Education and Communication (CEC).

Wendy Price

Administrative Assistant

Wendy Price has been working for IUCN’s Chief Scientist since September 2004 to December 2009. In January 2010 she joined the Commission on Education and Communication (CEC), part-time, to work with Cecilia Nizzola-Tabja, as Admin Assistant, and also works with the Science and Knowledge Management Unit.
