In collaboration with UNESCO, each year IUCN undertakes about 15 monitoring missions to World Heritage Sites facing threats such as unsustainable resource extraction (mining and illegal logging), inappropriate development (infrastructure and dams), poaching, agricultural encroachment, armed conflict and war, oil spills, inadequate management, and invasive species. IUCN counts on the support and expertise of members working on the ground to provide feedback, knowledge, reports and other data gathering to help complete successful monitoring missions.

Monitoring missions for 2012/2013 are listed below. The IUCN/ UNESCO mission reports for these Sites will be available by June 2013.
