Pachyderm is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published biannually by the AfESG in conjunction with the African Rhino and Asian Rhino specialist groups.
The full-text journal is freely available on the web in PDF format.

Call for cover photos
Do you have great photos of rhinos or African elephants in the wild? Would you like to have them featured in the cover of Pachyderm? If interested, email us low-resolution versions of the photo, together with a short description and details on the location where the photo was taken. If your photo is selected for publication, we will ask you for a hi-resolution version. We can't offer financial remuneration, but authors of featured photos will receive a free copy of the issue of Pachyderm in which their photo is published.

The AfESG's Human Elephant Conflict Working Group (HECWG) focuses its efforts on mitigating human-elephant conflict, developing "tools" for management, and undertaking research to gain greater insights into various aspects of HEC. A number of research papers and products developed by the Working Group are available from the HECWG home page.

A joint initiave of the AfESG and Save the Elephants, the African Elephant Bibliography is a comprehensive scientific bibliography dedicated exclusively to the African elephant. The list currently includes some some 4,500 annotated references, with the oldest documents dating from as far back as 1868.
The African Elephant Bibliography is also maintained on the web as a searchable database.
We are constantly seeking and collecting material to expand the AEB. If you are aware of any African elephant-related report, paper, manuscript or book not currently found in the database, we would like to hear from you.
