The conference aims to introduce and discuss broadly the approach of designing a Network of Knowledge approach in the area of biodiversity and ecosystem services in Europe. The conference will also discuss the European input into IPBES and other international developments.
At the heart of the Network of Knowledge approach is engaging different knowledge hubs and identify their interests when getting involved.
The focus of the conference will be on identifying solutions and options for the Network of Knowledge and identify steps to createa broad community of interest with it. For a detailed discussion, the project team will provide a green paper as basis prior to the conference. To back this with a practical perspective, the conference will also introduce the demonstration cases of the project that will test the processes of the Network of Knowledge over the next year.
On the last day, the conference will also discuss the European input into IPBES and other international developments.
The Network of Knowledge Biodiversity Knowledge will be developed and communicated by the EU-project KNEU - Developing a Knowledge Network for European expertise on biodiversity and ecosystem services to inform policy making economic sectors, funded under the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for research and innovation.
