In their official statement, the leaders of the world’s eight largest economies say they are committed to reaching a global, ambitious and comprehensive agreement at the UN Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen in December.

“The interlinked challenges of climate change, energy security and the sustainable and efficient use of natural resources are amongst the most important issues to be tackled in the strategic perspective of ensuring global sustainability,” they add.

However, the impacts of climate change are already felt in many areas.

Ninni Ikkala, IUCN’s Climate Change Coordinator, explains what more the G8 needs to do.
