Workshop on biodiversity conservation and wetlands management in Bac Kan

In response to MONRE’s request for support for the World Environment Day and the International Year of Forests 2011, IUCN cooperated with MONRE’s Biodiversity Conservation Agency (BCA) to organize a workshop on biodiversity conservation and wetlands management in Ba Be on June 4, 2011.

IUCN’s Nguyen Duc Tu gave a presentation on the ecosystem approach to wetland conservation with a focus on Ba Be, which is one of the 20 largest natural freshwater lakes in the world, is an ASEAN Heritage Park, and was recently nominated as Vietnam’s third Ramsar site. Mr. Tu read out a letter of congratulation from the Ramsar Convention Secretariat in Switzerland. A copy of the letter can be viewed by CLICKING HERE.
