The global community celebrates World Wetlands Day on February 2nd of each year. This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 1971. Like other countries in different part of the world, Nepal also celebrated World wetland Day with a dedication to mark the theme of this year ‘Wetlands and Agriculture: Partners for Growth’.
Over the years, this event has been celebrating by IUCN Nepal with its members and partners. This year, with the theme ‘Wetlands and Agriculture: Partners for Growth’, IUCN Nepal celebrated this Day jointly with Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC), National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), Himalayan Nature, WWF Nepal and Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN). DNPWC, NTNC, Himalayan Nature and BCN are also the institutional member of IUCN Nepal. A formal programme was organized at the ‘Taudaha- a wetland nearby Kathmandu city’ in coordination of the local community and mother groups.
