Mangroves for the Future (MFF) is pleased to announce the launch of a Medium-sized Grant Facility (MGF). MFF is a partnership-led initiative to promote investment in coastal ecosystems (corals, sea grasses, estuaries, mud flats, etc.) including but not restricted to mangroves. MFF MGF supports projects that contribute to the sustainable development of coastal areas in Vietnam through good practices of coastal ecosystems management, sustainable livelihoods, and coastal resilience.

The thematic scope of MGF projects will comprise four priority programmes of work (PoWs) described in the MFF Vietnam National Strategy and Action Plan (NSAP) (CLICK HERE). These PoWs are: coastal rehabilitation, sustainable livelihoods, community resilience and adaptive management. Project objectives should clearly support one or more PoW either directly or in a strong cross-cutting manner. In addition, projects should include provisions for direct policy advocacy and pilot intervention mainstreaming at both national and sub-national levels within the wider geographic region in which the project is situated. Projects should be climate-proofed following MFF reference tools and guidelines.
Proposals can be submitted by eligible organizations and agencies with operations in Vietnam that meet the following criteria:
• Are registered, preferably for at least three years (see Annex 2).
• Have a proven or strong capacity and experience in formulating and implementing projects related to integrated coastal management.
• Have a track record of working with government and NGOs as well as local communities in a participatory way.
• Can demonstrate experience in project management and financial administration.
The project design should reflect the multi-sectoral and partnership-based features of MFF.
Applicants should submit a concept note of no more than 4 pages in English (see Annex 1). Short-listed applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. Please note that an invitation to submit a full proposal is no guarantee that it will be financially supported by MFF. The deadline for submitting concept notes is 17:00 Friday, March 16, 2012.
