The Joint Management Board (JMB) of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area (GLTFCA) has welcomed the activities that the IUCN-CESVI Limpopo Transboundary Programme is implementing in the GLTFCA.
The JMB met on the 3rd and 4th of November in Harare, Zimbabwe to review progress on activities of the working committees and to evaluate the status of implementation of the five year Integrated Business Plan of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (GLTP). During this meeting, the JMB invited the IUCN-CESVI Limpopo Transboundary Programme to present the activities the programme is implementing in the GLTFCA with support from the Italian Cooperation.
Positive remarks were given by the institutions that took part in the consultative process through three national workshops of stakeholders and one regional meeting.
The JMB meeting also provided the opportunity for the Limpopo Transboundary Programme to establish a formal link with the governing body responsible for the overall integration and set-up of the transfrontier park.
The major contributions of the Limpopo Transboundary Programme to this process are the review of the policy framework; the development of tools for systemic management options and the promotion of initiatives and activities that improve the livelihood of communities living in the boundaries of the park.
