The World Environment Day – Think, Eat, Save

IUCN in collaboration with UNESCO and Balochistan Environmental Protection Agency, Government of Balochistan organized a Seminar to mark the World Environment Day 2013 on 5th June at Serena hotel Quetta. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day was Think, Eat, Save.

Mr. Khudae Rahim Ejbani, Secretary Forest and Wildlife, Government of Balochistan was the chief guest. This event was attended by a large number of participants including seven secretaries of different line departments, representatives of civil society organizations, academia and media.

Mr. Naseer Khan Kashani, Director General Balochistan Environment Protection Agency was the key note speaker. The other speakers were: Mr. Zahoor Bazi from University of Balochistan; Mr. Tahir Qureshi of IUCN; Ms. Rehana Khilji of UN Women Pakistan; Ms. Nida Kazmi of Balochistan Environment Protection Agency; Qaisar Jamli of UNESCO and Mr. Zeeshan Ul Haq, Secretary, Planning and Development Department; Mr. Saboor Kakar, Secretary, Information; and Mr. Faiz Kakar, Head of IUCN Balochistan Programme Office. A vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Abdullah Jan, Secretary Environment and Youth Affairs.

IUCN Pakistan also brought out a Public Service Message advertisement to highlight the significance of the day in collaboration with the Express Tribune as a Press Partner.

Mr. Ghulam Qadir Shah, National Coordinator, MFF Pakistan was the guest at the special programme aired by Radio FM-91 on the World Environment Day.
