Los miembros del Comité Español hacen un último esfuerzo para ayudar a detener la pérdida de biodiversidad en 2010

Septiembre 2010 – El Comité Español de la UICN, con la colaboración de la Fundación Biodiversidad y Obra Social Caja Madrid, han puesto en marcha el proyecto “Año Mundial para la Biodiversidad”, una iniciativa enmarcada en el ámbito del Año Internacional de la Diversidad Biológica (AIB) proclamado por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas. El proyecto tiene como objetivo hacer conciencia sobre la diversidad biológica, y su pérdida, a través de la educación ambiental. Protected Areas: a key tool for protecting nature and promoting sustainable development

The annual EUROPARC Conference and General Assembly takes place in a different European country each year, and brings together 500 professionals from protected areas, ministries responsible for protected areas and major European conservation organisations.  The 2010 EUROPARC Conference was held in Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise National Park, Italy from 29th September to 02nd October and resulted in the Pescasseroli Declaration 2010.

It’s 2010 – a year of stock-taking for world governments and for the Countdown 2010 initiative. The 2010 Biodiversity Target was not reached but the thousands of biodiversity actions taken by Countdown 2010 partners are an important step towards the improvement of the status of biodiversity and the increase of public awareness. Thousands of biodiversity actions all over the world have contributed to conserving biodiversity. These actions are a model for other communities, regions and countries. The initiative itself has served as a springboard for increased, and concrete, action beyond 2010. A renewed and enhanced phase of biodiversity conservation and awareness raising can now start. …
