Parks, people, planet: inspiring solutions

21 February 2013 | Article

Vivid and dynamic, the logo for the IUCN World Parks Congress 2014 approved by the International Steering Committee consists of a series of brush strokes each representing a different element of the Australian landscape and a thriving planet: water, earth, fauna, flora and sunlight

Just as the Congress will be the place where the global community involved with protected areas will converge, interact, meld and forge directions for the future, the elements of the logo overlap, connect and unite in an abstract representation of the famed icon of the host city, the renowned Sydney Opera House. Inspired by nature, the design is modern, creative, expressive and energetic, intended to inspire and engage.

Last call for Stream Leadership Proposals

Stream leader proposals are currently being developed and you are reminded that the closing date for receipt of proposals is 8 March 2013, after which the International Steering Committee will determine the major work streams that will form the Congress.

In addition, a new opportunity to submit your ideas for the Congress

While stream leadership is being established, we have also been receiving many ideas about components that could inform the streams. If you or your organisation would like to contribute towards a stream component, you are invited to submit your ideas by completing the following short survey. Ideas that you submit will be made available to stream leaders where appropriate, or you will be put in touch with others who have similar ideas to combine your proposals and develop them further together with the stream leaders. We look forward to you joining us for a stimulating and successful IUCN World Parks Congress 2014.
