Tree plantation at Pasni

In keeping with IUCN-Pakistan’s commitment to fully take part in the National Tree Plantation Day designated as such by the Ministry of Environment, on August 18, 2009, IUCN Dist. Gwadar office in arranged to plant 3000 plants in Pasni.
The sites selected by the IUCN team selected were Pasni Prahag and Shadikor, while the plants selected were mangroves (500) and muskets (2500).
The saplings of Mangroves were planted at the estuary of the river to protect the Pasni town from sea intrusion as well as flash floods, while the muskets were planted to stabilize the sand dunes moving towards the town.
After site selection Pasni community and officials included DDO Education, TMA Pasni, C&W representative , Fish harbor representative, Social sectors, teachers were invited by the IUCN staff to participate in the tree plantation activity.
