29 new members have joined IUCN

At its 69th Meeting, the IUCN Council admitted 29 new members.  A diverse and influential group of governmental agencies, national and international non-governmental organizations from Africa, Asia, Europe, Meso & South America, North America and the Caribbean, these newly admitted organizations and/or institutions will share and support the Union’s mission which is to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable. The IUCN Council has also granted formal recognition to the South and East Asia Regional Committee. Council always receives requests for formal recognition with much enthusiasm as Regional/National Committees are important mechanisms for interaction among members on shared interests and concerns in their Region/country.
