07 November 2011 | Event
The workshop takes place from 7 to 9 November 2011 in Baeza (Spain), at the “Sede Antonio Machado”, a XVII century building turned into a Conference Centre of the International University of Andalusia (UNIA).
This Workshop, with the participation of IUCN representatives, aims to analyze and to debate the last developments of the protection of the environment in the international spaces, in order to find new conclusions and connections between Global and Local Commons.
The Workshop is divided into three interrelated sections:
a) the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea regarding the Deep Sea-Bed, whaling and marine pollution regimes;
b) the Outer Space Treaties and other legal and political instruments concerning space activities, the orbital debris and the use of the space technology for the mitigation of the climate change; and
c) the 1958 Antarctic Treaty and the 1991 Madrid Protocol on Environmental Protection.
