Protected Areas capture the breadth of the planet's biodiversity. They've been the focus of talks during the first few days of a conference in Nairobi which aims to ensure that work carried out under the Convention on Biological Diversity has a sound scientific base. Nikita Lopoukhine, Chair of IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas, looks at the progress on Protected Areas.
