Commissioner General of the Department of Agrarian Development (DAD) and Acting Country Representative of IUCN Sri Lanka Programme has signed a Memorandum of Understanding related to the implementation of Project - Ecological restoration of traditional cascade tank systems for access to water, enhance agriculture, rural livelihoods and environmental services in Sri Lanka - at the DAD Head Office in Colombo on the 24th June 2013.

DAD being the national agency mandated with the management of small irrigation tanks, this MoU provides a framework for both institutions to cooperate and embark on the implementation of the HSBC Global Water Programme supported project in Sri Lanka. The project is being implemented in Rambewa Divisional Secretariat Division in Anuradhapura under the partnership between HSBC Sri Lanka Office and IUCN Sri Lanka Country Programme with number of other national agencies.
