Drought experts met in Brussels on 22 – 24 February to attend the Xerochore Final Conference on Supporting Drought Policies in Europe. The IUCN Mediterranean Red List programme is pleased to announce a new regional section on the IUCN Red List website, which highlights the outcomes of the Mediterranean Red List initiative. New Members’ Portal: Resolutions and Recommendations System

IUCN-Med is pleased to announce that the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria version 3.1 has now been published in Arabic, with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID), and the objective of promoting red listing in Arabic countries at national and regional levels. Tourism industry should better cater for climate-sensitive holiday makers
A survey of tourists and tour operators in the Egyptian Red Sea region shows that the industry often misperceives its clients’ environmental sensitivity, putting its own business at risk. Climate change is a growing threat to the tourism industry by making destinations less attractive and jeopardizing major sources of income. The awareness of tourists towards climate change and other environmental issues is likely to be a major driver of their future holiday choices.
