On 9th May, the Co-Chairs of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law´s Research Committee visited the IUCN Environmental Law Centre (ELC) to discuss future collaboration between the ELC, the Commission on Environmental Law (CEL) and the Academy of Environmental Law.

This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to further plan the upcoming IUCN workshop entitled “Towards the legal recognition and governance of ecosystem services”, which will be held in South Africa before the Academy’s 9th annual colloquium, this year. Furthermore, it enabled the IUCN Environmental Law Programme and the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law to discuss and identify joint areas of work in light of the draft IUCN Intersessional Programme 2013-2016. The aim of ELC, CEL and the Academy is to develop a joint Component Programme for the next intersessional period by December 2012.
