La réserve de biosphère transfrontière du delta du fleuve Sénégal : Vers un système de gouvernance efficace et equitable

La Réserve de Biosphère Transfrontière du delta du fleuve Sénégal – RBTDS a été classée en juin 2005 par l’UNESCO à la demande du Sénégal et de la Mauritanie. Elle constitue un cadre d’orientation pour le développement durable de la région, en privilégiant la conservation et la restauration des écosystèmes. Basée sur une approche territoriale transfrontalière, elle vise une prise en compte intégrative du fonctionnement écologique du milieu, du paysage, des usages et des systèmes de production agropastoraux, et propose un zonage renvoyant à la fois à des priorités de gestion et à des responsabilités institutionnelles. Celles-ci sont nombreuses, incluant l’Organisation pour la Mise en Valeur du fleuve Sénégal (OMVS), les différentes collectivités territoriales, les institutions de l’Etat dont les Parcs nationaux, et les représentants des usagers et des communautés locales. …

This image shows the courtship behavior of Indian Bull frogs (Holobatrachus tigerinus). During the monsoon, the breeding males become bright yellow in color, while females remain dull. The prominent blue vocal sacs of male produce strong nasal mating call.
