Ms. Rizwana Hasan, Executive Director of the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association, an IUCN member, and a member of IUCN’s Commission on Environmental Law, has been awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize for 2009.

She was awarded the prize for leading a legal battle resulting in increased government regulation and heightened public awareness about Bangladesh’s exploitative and environmentally-devastating ship breaking industry.

“The best thing one can do to secure the future of her children is to leave behind a liveable earth – a place that allows us to breathe, dream, evolve, assist and when necessary, resist.” – Rizwana Hasan, 2009 Goldman Prize winner.

Disseminating enviromental info to the public of third world country is quite tough job. Fantastic work under limited resources!

We must bring awareness regarding "Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)" to the general public.
