International Year of Biodiversity celebrated at Hamdard University, Karachi

To celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity a lecture on Biodiversity was organized by Hamdard University at its main campus in Karachi. Having the global recognition IUCN Pakistan was asked for the services of an expert to give a lecture on the topic.

Rafiul Haq, Coordinator Natural Resource Management and country focal person for Species and Biodiversity delivered the talk. In his lecture Rafiul Haq focused on the value of biodiversity in terms of monitory gains and losses, he highlighted the role of IUCN in the formulation of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the proactive role of its commissions in its support. The session was attended by the faculty members and the students of business management, engineering, pharmacy and eastern medicine.

The audiences were very keen to learn more about IUCN and its biodiversity related work. Head of organizing committee Mr. Mohammad Azmat (Shigeyuki) Ataka, Director, Student & External Affairs, Hamdard University thanked and appreciated the work of IUCN related to biodiversity.
