04 February 2011 | News story
Ms. Larissa Brisbane is the new Senior Energy Programme Officer for the Regional Office.
Larissa is Australian and has a Bachelor of Environmental Science Degree from the University of Wollongong, Australia.
She worked briefly for the state government (Australia) in their waste reduction efforts before moving to London to work for London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, a local council, in community-focused waste management for two years. After a short detour into road safety, she returned to environment, spending five years working for a major consultancy in Sydney.
Larissa has worked in environmental management, sustainability, and climate change teams in diverse projects and industries. This included early involvement in greenhouse gas accounting, and secondments to the Solar in Schools and GreenPower (voluntary renewable energy) programs, as well as mining and electrical infrastructure. Most recently was a one year placement at Fiji’s Department of Environment, in partnership with the Environmental Defenders’ Office NSW, funded by AusAID through the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development program. Larissa primarily focused on development issues as part of the EIA team and was privileged to travel around Fiji.
