Honorary Membership of IUCN, which recognizes outstanding services to the conservation of nature and natural resources, is presented at the World Conservation Congress to two or three individuals who have made exceptional contributions to furthering the goals of the Union.
Honorary members include distinguished former Presidents and Directors General, members of IUCN’s Council, members of Commissions and international figures who have contributed their valuable time and energy to implementing the Mission of IUCN.
Honorary Membership will be presented at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Jeju, Republic of Korea, 6-15 September 2012.
Nominations are sought from IUCN Members and Commission members for Honorary Membership of IUCN, an award created at the foundation of the Union on 5 October 1948 and recorded in IUCN’s first Statutes.
