MoU signed between Government of Bangladesh and IUCN

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Government of Bangladesh and IUCN was extended through a signing ceremony on 29 September 2011, at the 5th Asia Regional Conservation Forum (RCF) in Incheon, Republic of South Korea.
The MoU creates the context and provides the basis for IUCN to continue its operations in Bangladesh with the broad aim of nature conservation and sustainable development. The Government continues to recognize IUCN in Bangladesh as an international legal personality and the country office as an autonomous international, non-profit, nature conservation, educational and training organization.
Mesbah ul Alam, Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of Bangladesh and Aban Marker Kabraji, Regional Director, IUCN Asia signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions at the RCF.
The 5th RCF commenced in Incheon, Republic of Korea on September 27, 2011 and was attended by about 500 representatives from IUCN’s Membership, Commissions, Secretariat, Council, donors and partners in Asia. The Asia Regional Conservation Forum is being co-hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea and the IUCN National Committee of Members in Korea.
