Call for international case studies of peatland restoration

25 July 2013 | Article

The IUCN CEM Peatland Thematic Group are producing a booklet to highlight the important role of peatland restoration and management in helping meet biodiversity, climate change and water objectives.

The intend of this booklet is to enourage policy makers and the business community to support action towards peatland conservation in recognition of its huge importance to society. Please contact Rea Cris,  Rea.cris@iucn.org.uk if you would like to contribute a case study of peatland restoration.  We are ideally looking for examples covering deep peat areas (bog or fen > 50cm) and are interested in a broad range of restoration management examples including rewetting, reduced grazing/burning, plantation removal.  A detailed template for submission of case studies is available on request to Rea Cris. Here you can find more information on the proposal.
