The Inaugural World Forum on Natural Capital

Jonathan Hughes, Director of Conservation, Scottish Wildlife Trust and the IUCN Councillor, calls for support to the World Forum on Natural Capital. The inaugural World Forum on Natural Capital is being held in Edinburgh on the 21-22nd November this year with IUCN as one of the organising partners. This is the first major global conference devoted exclusively to turning the debate on natural capital accounting into action.
The World Forum on Natural Capital will build on the enormous private sector interest shown at the United Nations Earth Summit in Rio in June 2012 and the many developments that have taken place since.
The aim is ultimately to provide businesses with the tools and knowledge they need to better account for their impact on the natural world, and to then mitigate and invest in nature-based solutions to global biodiversity loss.
