With ever-increasing knowledge about the importance of biodiversity to human livelihoods and well-being, combined with mounting evidence that we are in the midst of the sixth great extinction crisis, the need for information on the status of biodiversity and for action to halt, or at the very least slow down, its disappearance has never been greater. IUCN is committed to tackling this challenge head-on, by working to reduce the loss of biodiversity at several levels: from genes, to species, ecosystems and ocean biodiversity.
