Funded by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), the six year project implemented by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and executed by the Ministry of Agriculture in Jordan (MOA) aims to demonstrate and scale-up successful sustainable land management practices for the control and prevention of desertification and deforestation.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature – the Regional Office for West Asia’s (IUCN ROWA) partnership with MOA and in cooperation with IFAD integrates major issues linked to land and natural resource degradation and is within IUCN ROWA’s portfolio to strengthen the capacity necessary for the protection of Jordan’s environment.
IUCN ROWA will take up an initial component of the 6 year project and implement it in 13 community clusters in the Karak, Tafileh and Ma’an Governorates. The project will be implemented using a participatory action-research approach coupled with a process of capacity building.
