IUCN Nepal Celebrates World Environment Day

IUCN Nepal observed the World Environment Day 2011 with its usual gusto amidst more than 3000 participants in the Green Environmental Parade. This year’s theme, ‘Forests: Nature at Your Service’, highlights the variety of services provided by the forests and urge us all to take action to protect them.

Most of the participants were school children that paraded through the major thoroughfares of Lalitpur district. The posters, slogans and banners advocated about the services provided by the forest and their importance in our lives.

At the end of the rally, various programmes were organized to felicitate the winners of the competitions which had taken place earlier during the week.

The programme was jointly organised by Central Zoo of the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City and WWF Nepal.
