Professor Amidou Garané, from the University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), is visiting the ELC this month to work on international rivers governance related to the Volta Basin.
The Volta Basin is one of the biggest shared basins in West Africa. After a long process, a Convention on Volta Basin organization was adopted in 2007. The establishment of this legal and institutional framework could contribute to reducing conflicts and the risk of conflicts between the basin states and help to promote peace in West Africa.
Prof. Garané has authored many publications in different areas of environmental law. His field of interest is the national and international dimensions of environmental law. In particular, he works on international waters.
