The IUCN Commission on Environmental Law’s Young Professionals Group held a meeting on Tuesday, May 31, at the Hotel Mercure in Sao Paulo.
The following members from the Young Professionals Group participated: Ever Martínez (Paraguay), Pablo Lorenzetti (Argentina), Gustavo Rinaldi (Argentina), and Federico Zonis (Argentina).
Pablo Lorenzetti invited other young lawyers—who are interested in becoming members of the group—to participate in the meeting: Andrea González (Argentina), Ana Inés Salerno (Argentina), Guillermo Marchesi (Argentina), and Juan José Martínez Mercadal (Uruguay). They were introduced to the IUCN’s Commission on Environmental Law’s mission and objectives as well as the main aims of the Young Professionals Group.
During the meeting, the participants discussed that the Young Professionals Group needed to set specific objectives to meet as well as expected results, and pass them on to the CEL Chair for her approval. They also talked about the possibility of publishing a document, and organizing seminars and conferences, as well as having some sort of representation and participation in the Rio + 20 Summit, especially taking into account the active participation CEL would have at the Summit.
