The German Centrum für Internationale Migration und Entwicklung (CIM) has extended its support to the IUCN Programme Office for the Southern Caucasus, through co-funding the position of Programme Coordinator Dr Tobias Garstecki for another two years.
CIM is a joint venture of the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the German Federal Agency of Employment. It has been supporting Dr Garstecki’s position at IUCN POSC since September 2006. The responsibilities of the post include programme development, fundraising, the coordination of ongoing projects and support to the growing member network of IUCN in the South Caucasus.
IUCN South Caucasus Director Ramaz Gokhelashvili thanked CIM for its continued support and stressed the importance of having a CIM Integrated Expert at the Tbilisi Office: “Having an international expert in our office significantly strengthens IUCN’s capacity for programme formation, project development and international communications. As a result, we are better placed to fulfil our mission in the South Caucasus region – to support the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable management of natural resources”.
