New guidance issued yesterday on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) by IUCN will significantly improve ocean protection efforts.

Acting on lessons from tsunami: Japan plans national park

Come 2013 the government of Japan will establish a new national park along areas heavily affected by the 2011 tsunami; a bold pursuit to invest in natural barriers against future natural hazards.
