The Forest Conservation Programme's new brochure entitled, 'OPORTUNIDADES REDD - Integrando Enfoques para el Manejo Sostenible de los Bosques', which lays out IUCN's position on REDD.

IUCN believes that REDD can contribute to major reductions in global greenhouse gases IF it:

  • Integrates with, and compliments, a broader strategy for deeper cuts in fossil fuel emissions
  • Integrates with ongoing sustainable forest management approaches
  • Integrates with ecosystem-based approaches that address the causes of deforestation and degradation

The brochure also highlights IUCN's current activities at the National and International level, illustrating how all our work on REDD is carried out in close collaboration with our partners

This image shows the courtship behavior of Indian Bull frogs (Holobatrachus tigerinus). During the monsoon, the breeding males become bright yellow in color, while females remain dull. The prominent blue vocal sacs of male produce strong nasal mating call.
