Catalyze IUCN CEC Action in Your Country

09 July 2009 | News story

Are you a leader who can inspire action for sustainability in your own country? Are you active in professional networks in mass media, universities, knowledge management, social marketing or IT? Or do you know someone who fits this description? Nominations are now being accepted for National Activators in the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC). Submit your nomination for IUCN CEC National Activator by July 31.

This is a new voluntary position with a pivotal role. You will work closely with the CEC Regional Vice-Chair to (1) facilitate the co-creation of solutions, (2) create strategic communication platforms, and (3) leverage new learning for sustainable development. These three priorities in the CEC mandate contribute to the IUCN 2009-2012 programme of work. There's also an ongoing effort to advance international Conventions through CEPA (Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness). And we're moving ahead with professional development with WCLN, the World Conservation Learning Network. CEC also continues to support the UNDESD, United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.

July 31 is the deadline for nominations. Please send your candidate(s) name and e-mail address to CEC Membership Liaison Officer Cecilia Nizzola-Tabja at Cecilia will send all nominations to the CEC Steering Committee. If your candidate is not already a CEC member, kindly provide his/her job title and a few sentences on qualifications.
